Yes, they are called dual or split geothermal heat pumps. They can be added for those who want to have a dual-fuel heating system. Dual-fuel systems use the geothermal unit as the primary heating source, and the fossil fuel furnace as a supplement in extremely cold weather should additional heat be needed. |
