Frequently Asked Questions
Mechanical Energy Systems makes it easy to get your questions answered.Below are a few frequently asked questions, but don't hesitate to contact us with any questions you have. We're here to help. Q. What size furnace or central air conditioner do I need for my home?A. There are many variables that go into properly sizing a central air conditioner for a home. Square footage, windows, insulation and ceiling height are just a few of the items that are taken into consideration. It is always recommended that an on-site estimate be performed to ensure proper sizing. Q. Can I have air conditioning if I don't have existing ductwork? A. Yes, there are 2 different solutions to this problem. The first is that we will run duct work in either the attic or a complete duct work system in the basement. The second is a split system ductless. Q. What can I do to reduce the amount of dust and pollen in my home? A. Install an enhanced filter system. We handle different levels of filtration systems to suit each individual homeowner's needs. We also recommend duct cleaning with the installation of any filtration system. Q. How can I raise the humidity during the dry winter months? A. Install a central humidifier that will automatically change the humidity levels in your house as the outside temperatures change. Q. What does normal maintenance on my furnace or air conditioner mean? A. Most manufacturers recommend a yearly inspection and a clean & check on your equipment. This should be done by a heating & cooling professional. By not doing this, your equipment efficiency may drop up to 10% and may void any warranties. Q. When you forget to shut the door behind you, does the heat go out or does the cold come in? A. It depends on who is paying the utility bill. Q. If the temperature in your house is 68 degrees and you want it to be 72 degrees, will it heat up faster if you turn the thermostat to 75 degrees? A. A single stage furnace will take just as long to get to 72 degrees with either setting. A two-stage furnace will heat the home faster with the 75-degree setting. |
